38th Annual Senior Awareness Day

(San Joaquin County, CA) – The theme of the 2016 Senior Awareness Day is, “Hollywood”. May is Older Americans Month and the San Joaquin County Human Services Agency is proud to invite everyone for a celebration of the seniors in our community. The event welcomes all family members, caregivers, and seniors to participate. Over 130 booths will be available at this event providing information about key resources available to seniors. There will be free health screenings, Medicare information, and much more. The event runs from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and includes free entrance and parking to Micke Grove Park.
Stroll around beautiful Micke Grove Park and enjoy the Senior Art Show, Classic Car Show, live entertainment, exhibitions, Bingo (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.), and food. Grab a bite to eat in the new food court section and listen to the music of John Covert & The Crystal Image Band.
Join in the fun and register to take a Wellness Walk on the “Poker Path” that tours Micke Grove’s stunning mature oaks and the beautifully landscaped lake area. With a $5.00 dollar registration fee, participants will walk away with a T-shirt and the possibility of other prizes.
Enjoy free transportation from Central Stockton, courtesy of San Joaquin Regional Transit District (RTD) to the 2016 Senior Awareness Day event at Micke Grove Park. From 8:00 a.m. to noon, shuttle buses will leave every half hour from eastbound Yokuts Avenue just east of Claremont Avenue, in Stockton. Returning buses will leave the park every half hour until 3:00 p.m.
