Keeping Cool This Summer June 9, 2014By Tom News air conditioning, cool, heat, summer 0 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Media Line: June 9, 2014 (209) 468-1130 Cooling Zones to Open in San Joaquin County (San Joaquin County, CA) - According to the National Weather Service, San Joaquin County residents are anticipated to experience higher than normal temperatures during the months of June through September, 2014. As a proactive measure, the County’s Human Services Agency has designated eight Community Centers as Cooling Zones that will open today. Cooling Zones provide an air-conditioned facility to offer people relief from the heat. Individuals who do not have ready access to a cool environment, particularly those at risk for heat-related illness, should use the cooling zones. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Following is a list of the designated Cooling Zones: Boggs Tract Center 533 S. Los Angeles Street Stockton, CA 95203 Northeast Center 2885 E. Harding Way Stockton, CA 95205 Larch Clover Center 11157 W. Larch Road Tracy, CA 95304 Lodi Center 415 S. Sacramento Street Lodi, CA 95240 Kennedy Center 2800 S. D Street Stockton, CA 95206 Thornton Center 26675 N. Sacramento Blvd. Thornton, CA 95686 Garden Acres Center 607 Bird Avenue Stockton, CA 95215 Taft Center 389 Downing Avenue Stockton, CA 95206 With high temperatures and drought conditions forecasted throughout the summer, air quality is anticipated to decline.
